The Elite Products
The Elite System offers considerable power and flexibility of installation due to its user friendly yet robust design. Efficient component integration has resulted in a level of cost-effective performance unmatched by industry peers.
The XL Data Wand is a data logger. It records the date and time that serial number buttons are read, and stores the information into its internal memory.
Designed in Australia by Elite-ID Electronic Systems.

XL Memory Unloader is a completely portable battery powered data extraction tool. It extracts data from XL Data Wands. Being portable it can be carried to where XL data wands are being used and data extracted "on the spot".
XL Memory Unloader gives users of the Elite System great flexibility. Data can be extracted from XL Data Wands without the use of a PC, and at any time. This gives a freedom of data extraction not available with any other system.

XL Memory Unloader Operation:
- Unloading XL Data Wand Records
- Switch on (switch UP) - red led will commence blinking
- Touch XL Data Wand onto Front can
- Wait until Unloader Red and Green Leds alternate on/off to indicate wand empty
- Switch off
- Extracting Data into PC
- Connect to PC, and to charger if necessary
- Switch on (switch UP) - red led will commence blinking
- Use "XL Unloader" program
- Query Status - you will see serial number, date and time, number of records
- Check that Date and Time correct - if not correct it using "Clock" button
- Use "Get Data" to extract data to PC
- At the end of Data Extraction, use "Delete" to remove attendances from XL Memory Unloader (data saved on disk)
- Switch off XL Memory Unloader when not in use
- Precautions
- Make sure date and time in XL Memory Unloader is correct. When an XL Data Wand is unloaded, this date and time is put into the XL Data Wand(s).
- XL Memory Unloaders' battery is a NiCad. It requires occasional "cycling" by allowing it to go flat then charging for 24 hours. Check all settings with XL Unloader PC program after this is done.
The Elite Return Timer is a new application of iButton™ technology that combines a very high performance new generation microprocessor (computer chip) and an iButton™ into a single unit.
The Elite Return Timer displays the number of minutes since it was last reset by a staff member touching an XL Data Wand onto it.
The XL Data Wand records the attendance and Return Timer shows the staff member (or management) the number of minutes since the area was last attended.
The benefit of Elite Return Timer is that it provides management with "immediate" information on the performance of staff (simply by viewing the display), as opposed to some time later (days or possibly weeks) in a report.
The Elite Return Timer can be provided with or without a case, allowing it to be mounted and/or concealed in a manner suitable to the client's requirements.
Applications:
- High security areas. Show how long since a security officer was present.
- Retail Area food courts and entrances - show how long since staff attended key public liability and risk locations.
- Toilet Blocks & Amenity Areas - to show how long since a staff member was present.
- Any situation where immediate and visible proof of attendance and service delivery is required.

Elite Return Timer Operation:
The Elite Return timer has two modes of operation selected by a link (L3) on its computer board.
Smart Mode
Link L3 is open - supplied as standard. This has been designed to ensure that the the person using the XL Data Wand has been attending a location for at least a minimum work time.
For example, a cleaner enters a toilet facility, touches the XL Data Wand onto the Return Timer then checks the facility and touches the XL Data Wand onto the Return Timer again on the way out. The return timer clears to zero only on the second touch - and this ensures that the cleaner has been at the facility for at least the "minimum work" time.
- The first touch of the XL Data Wand onto the button on Return Timer "arms" the unit and the decimal point on the left most display lights. The minutes counter is not affected.
- When the Return Timer is ready to accept a second Wand hit, the decimal point on the second most left hand display will light.
- The second touch of the XL Data Wand onto the button on the Return Timer after the minimum work time resets the minutes counter to zero.
- The Return timer lights the second most left decimal point and will not respond to another XL Data Wand for the next 15 seconds (it is "locked out").
Note that the XL Data Wand will record all attendances at the Return Timer even if the Return timer does not reset its displays.
Simple Mode - Link L3 is plugged.
- Touch XL Data Wand onto button on Return Timer.
- Displays will reset to "0" and XL Data Wand will record the attendance.

The Dual and Quad Charger units recharge up to 2 or 4 XL Data Wands at the same time.
Operation: Clip the XL Data Wand onto the charger and push down onto the contact button. If power is available then the indication is;
- No Indication - there are four options;
- : Wand Fully charged
- : Charger not properly connected to power lead - lead not pressed in or reversed
- : Power not switched on
- : Wand bumped off charging bracket (wand not connected properly)
- Green Led : Wand is accepting power at a normal rate.
- Yellow Led : Wand is near flat and is accepting power at a high rate.
- Red Led : Wand is flat or faulty. Too much power is entering the Wand.
This will not hurt the wand - it is very safe.
Charger Fault finding
- Check that power is switched on at power point.
- Check that power plug properly pushed into rear of charger.
- Check the power connector. Centre must be positive.
- Check Wand probe for dirt - it may not be making proper contact.

You can add to the basic system both "in office" - and - across an "enterprise" over a wide geographic area such as a city, a state, a number of states or even a continent!
You can;
Add extra XL Data Wands for extra staff. Each staff member needs their own XL Data Wand so that their movements are recorded.
Add XL Memory Unloaders for staff traveling to remote places where XL Data Wands are being used so that they can be unloaded on the spot. XL Memory Unloader being battery powered makes portable - simple data extraction very easy to do.
eMail Data from remote sites back to "head office" for central reporting and control.
Enterprise or "wide spread" systems - perhaps spread across very large areas are well supported by the Elite System. This is because;
- Most Importantly - Data can be unloaded remotely and then eMailed back to a central point. For large organizations requiring data from remote sites - the Elite System supports this perfectly by allowing raw data files to be eMailed - safely and efficiently.
- Data can be used "on site" - as well as be sent to a head office for additional central reporting and archiving.
- Data integrity is extremely high. Every attendance is checked and only accepted if it is proven to be valid. Data cannot be "added" or "amended" other than by using the XL Data Wands and XL Memory Unloader units.
- XL Data Wands and XL Memory Unloaders can be added to the system as required.
- Elite Software is so low in cost and so simple to use - it is not expensive to use it everywhere.
In fact - Elite-ID customers have often implemented these kinds of system - it
is vital to them - they must get data back to "head office" from remote places.
We call this "data reticulation" - and it is something that Elite-ID Equipment is particularly well suited to.
Typical of this are: security franchisees, roving security and cleaning inspectors, also supervisors and service organizations with staff spread across wide areas.
For example;
Cleaning: One customer uses 18 XL Memory Unloaders and 270 XL Data Wands. They send data from three states of Australia back to base for reporting.
Security franchisees: A quantity of customers have setup franchisee systems that uses the Elite System to "prove work done". The franchisees then send data back to head office for recording and reporting. This has become quite common - and is in fact simple to do.
Roving security and cleaning supervisors can carry an XL Memory Unloader to their "client sites" and Unload XL Data Wands that are stationed with staff there. The only "fixed" equipment required on sites is the XL Data Wands, Chargers and iButtons(tm). When a roving inspector or supervisor regularly visits, XL Data Wands are unloaded with the portable XL Memory Unloader. The benefits of this are in raw simplicity and the reduction in equipment; a computer and software is not required on site - a notebook computer is not required for data extraction - and data is simply unloaded and transported back to base by the inspector. This is routinely done in the Australian states of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

We use the term "data reticulation" to describe how data is moved from place to place in the Elite System.
For example - data is moved;
- From XL Data Wand to XL Memory Unloader
- From Unloader To PC (as a raw data file)
- Between PCs via eMail, Removeable Media or across a Local Area Network
- Within the PC (raw data file) into a full relational database
The fact is that the Elite System offers more and better data-reticulation
options and features than any other system. The Elite System is ideally suited not only small
users - but also large "enterprise" users as well, with data acquisition, collection and even multiple reporting sites - safely and easily handled.
The Elite System was devised for and first used by a company having roving supervisors who attended sites where XL Data Wands were to be used. A computer was not available for staff use at site due to cost, space and training ... so it became a task for the supervisors.
Previously the supervisors had carried around notebook computers - and found this to be prone to error, expensive and just plain difficult to do. It did not work at all well. The XL Memory Unloader was devised for busy people to Unload their wands "on the fly" and "right at the work-face" as simply and quickly as possible.
Until Elite-ID Electronic Systems devised the XL Memory Unloader and provided extremely cheap, full function software, getting data from remote sites back to a central data-processing station could be difficult, expensive and time consuming.
The two key components to the flexibility of the Elite System are - " XL Memory Unloader " and the " Elite Software ". Behind all this is the ability of the system to still provide data integrity and probity so that data cannot be "rorted".
XL Memory Unloader is a rechargeable battery powered and fully portable data extraction tool. Simply charge it, take it to wherever your XL Data Wands are being used - and unload them right there and then! It is as easy as switching the 'Unloader on, touch the 'Wands onto it - and data is extracted. Later - you can return the 'Unloader back to head office, extract data and use it as required. You are given complete freedom to move from site to site - take your Unloader with you and extract data as you go. We designed it to be simple.
Elite Software includes two programs for extracting and managing XL Memory Unloader units. One program is a "control panel" type program that provides a range of options for control, management, extraction, inspection and fault finding with XL Memory Unloader units. The other program is "eMail enabled" - providing its own eMail client (send only). This allows remote sites that have an eMail capability to eMail data back to base in the simplest and fastest way possible.
However - best of all - the XL Memory Unloader is very cheap compared to a notebook computer - it is much smaller - it is more robust and reliable. In fact - it is a proven fact that the XL Memory Unloader has been an extremely reliable unit.
It is also extremely simple to use - it only has an on / off switch.
Similarly - the Elite Software is extremely cheap - full featured and has been designed and refined over 4 years for simplicity of use. It is used in shopping centres, security guard posts, cleaner's offices, major corporate offices - in many, many places all over Australia.

At the foundation of the Elite System is the understanding that the data it reports on is valid. The presumption is that the data has not been tampered with and not corrupted. The whole basis of the system is that it is a true record of activities.
This is a "core design" feature of, and fundamental to the Elite System and has be done by . . . (without revealing proprietary information).
- Hardware Checks within all equipment. This includes but is not limited to power on self tests, verification of data movement within the equipment and fail-safe / limitation of fault design methodology.
- Strict Testing Of Data before it is imported into Elite Reporter. Raw data files from XL Memory Unloader can be quite easily edited - changed etc. The protection mechanisms with the files eliminate this as a possibility to "create" or "adjust" data. It can't be done.
- Audit trails for time changes and for equipment operation.
- Software Design and algorithms for data storage and testing with the chips in the Wand and Unloader units that have been tested over years and proven.
- Software Design that prevents rorting and misrepresenting data.
